With stress and anxiety levels at an all-time high as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, it’s more important than ever to provide sensory outlets for consumers to release their pent-up stress. Nancy Rothner has created an aromatherapeutic sensory dough that helps to melt away tension as you knead it. With a variety of scents available, Pinch Me Therapy Dough is a great way to help calm your body and mind. When we become stressed, everything in our body tenses up. Pinch Me Therapy Dough allows that tension to release through the fingers. In order to increase awareness of her product, Nancy is hoping to partner with a Shark that is willing to invest $300,000 in exchange for 7% equity in her company to expand her marketing and digital presence.

The Sharks are impressed with the scents and the product. They also like that Nancy decided to make a pivot from being a stockbroker to therapeutic services after volunteering at a domestic violence shelter. Since making her career change, Nancy has thrown herself into therapeutic education and learning many calming techniques. For her, the creation of Pinch Me Therapy Dough was a no-brainer. Since 2015, the company has seen $5.3 million in lifetime sales. She expected to close 2020 at $1.2 million, which is down from $1.9 million in sales in 2019, however, like so many companies, she has had to pivot due to the pandemic.

Lori Greiner shares that she thinks Nancy is doing everything right. She advises that she hires someone who is good at marketing rather than give up equity in her company. Kevin O’Leary and Robert Herjavec both make identical Sharky offers to invest $300,000 in exchange for 25% equity in the company. As she is trying to counter, Daymond John also comes back in and offers $300,000 for 20% equity. Robert agrees to come down to 20% equity to match Daymond’s offer. Nancy decides to take Robert Herjavec’s offer of $300,000 in exchange for 20% equity as he was the Shark she hoped to partner with for Pinch Me Therapy Dough.

Do you think that Nancy made a wise decision in partnering with Robert over Kevin or Daymond? If you were responsible for strategic vision at Pinch Me Therapy Dough, which Shark would you have partnered with? If you were a Shark, would you have extended an offer to Nancy?
